630 FXUS65 KPIH 020916 AFDPIH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pocatello ID 316 AM MDT Sat May 2 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Frost advisory this morning for eastern Magic Valley and Snake River Plain. - Spring Warm-up: High pressure will amplify through the weekend, pushing temperatures approximately 10 degrees above seasonal normals by Sunday and Monday. - Predominantly Dry: Dry conditions will prevail through the weekend. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 314 AM MDT Sat May 2 2026 After a chilly start to the day across they Magic Valley and Snake River Plain, we will warm, dry conditions today. Most locations in the Snake River Plain and Magic Valley will be in the 70s for highs today. This morning should be the final morning for frost/freeze alerts with temps expected to hold in the upper 30s across the Snake Plain. There`s an outside chance for a few showers Sunday afternoon as a low pressure system slowly advances toward the California coast. Better chances for precipitation Monday into Tuesday as the low moves inland and interacts with a weak system passing just to our northeast. This weak system will help to draw up some moisture from the southwestern U.S. low. Still, expect mainly light, scattered precipitation. Temps cool back down for Tuesday with potential for another frost/freeze situation Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Then, a ridge builds back into the region for the second half of the week with warming temps once again. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z SUNDAY/...
