.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1205 PM MDT Fri May 8 2026

Winds will continue to be gusty out there into this evening, we
we COULD push toward the low end of WIND ADVISORY thresholds
across the Arco Desert and INL. We are hitting thresholds for a
LAKE WIND ADVISORY through this evening, and will keep the
advisory in place. Otherwise, until the middle of next week...we
are not expecting a lot of wind. The big story will be the race
to reach 90 in some places Monday and Tuesday. We are expecting
widespread 80s across lower elevations at this point, with
warmer spots hitting 90-92 degrees. The higher end of the Blend
of models is running 2-5 degrees warmer in some areas, and would
give us widespread 90s across lower elevations on Tuesday. That
is running 20-25 degrees ABOVE AVERAGE and likely looking at
potential record highs at this point. By Wednesday and beyond,
we are seeing high pressure replaced by another area of broad
low pressure shifting into the western U.S. Right now, there is
some rather large differences on how much precipitation we get
and how much we cool off. Wednesday be the coolest day, with the
full range of the Blend of Models running 65-80 on the lower
side to 85-95 on the high end. It does look there is at least
some potential for some rainfall at this point.
