.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 134 AM MST Mon Nov 2 2026

Today through Wed night...The bulk of precipitation ends prior
to forecast start at 0500 MST this morning. Some lingering
showers over the highlands bordering WY should end during the
afternoon. Clouds will clear for tonight and the main risk
tonight will be BR/FG and stratus clouds.

Temperatures today will struggle into the upper 40s at lower
elevations. The cool end to the afternoon means chilly
temperatures under nearly clear skies: Teens in the alpine
basins, mid-20s to low 30s for the Snake River plain/eastern
Magic Valley, 20s for the highlands. The abundant sunshine will
put both highs and lows on a warming trend for Tue. Cloud cover
on Wed/Wed night will cool highs and level off overnight lows.
The cloud cover comes from a low moving through UT.


Windy conditions this morning in the post-frontal zone will
subside during the afternoon as the upper level support for
strong wind diminishes.

Thu through Sun...Building upper level high pushes storm track
farther north and away from southern ID. The ridge axis staying
to the west will mean northwest air flow and a re-supply of cold
air that will keep temperatures from warming too strongly, or
even leveling off until Sun. On Sun, a low off the west coast
shifts wind to more southerly and temperatures will warm more
strongly.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z TUESDAY/...

Not exactly a high confidence forecast this morning. The tricky
part is that abundant ground moisture will compete with a breezy
boundary layer to likely not make BR/FG possible, but perhaps
some stratus clouds that could produce IFR conditions. The
afternoon will be warm enough to eliminate problems with ground
phenomena, but the clear skies aloft and much calmer wind at the
surface should lead to BR/FG or stratus risk everywhere except
KSUN, where the northerly wind flow will push the BR/FG and
stratus southward.

KPIH:Current IFR conditions should lift to marginal VFR around
02/17Z, then by 02/21Z CAVU (CIG and VSBY unlimited)

KIDA: North wind this AM may keep FG/BR/stratus away this
morning, but hourly guidance suggests a risk of marginal VFR for
CIG at times this morning after sunrise.

KBYI: Marginal VFR with breezy conditions from the west keeping
away a threat of FG/BR. There is a concern that IFR for CIG is
still possible with all the RA of the previous 30 hours. Mid-
morning cumulus development could produce a BKN around 5000ft
AGL. Lighter wind tonight will threaten FG/BR development.

KSUN: Least amount of problems with not as much rain in the
central Idaho mountains and northerly wind pushing any stratus
deck southward back into the lower elevations.

KDIJ: Still hasn`t cleared and even could get some SHSN with the
cold temperatures, though more likely SHRA. Should be in and out
of marginal VFR in the morning, but by 02/20Z the movement of
the low and the strong sunshine should make it CAVU. BR/FG
likely to develop tonight, perhaps mid-evening. Stratus also
likely late, if no VSBY impacts.

.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 134 AM MST Mon Nov 2 2026

Cold temperatures and high humidity will continue through at
least Tue. High pressure will allow more significant lowering of
humidity on Tue afternoon/Wed. Conditions should become dry
after today with no precipitation expected until possibly late
in the upcoming weekend. Stratus and fog will be affecting areas
both tonight and Tue night. Gusty wind today in the Southern
Idaho Dispatch area will decrease during the afternoon.
