672 FXUS65 KPIH 311006 AFDPIH Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Pocatello ID 406 AM MDT Sun Aug 31 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Mostly dry weather and gradually warmer temps continue through Labor Day. - Dry pattern continues through most of next week. && .SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 1246 AM MDT Sun Aug 31 2025 Ridge axis is centered directly overhead today and all models agree that we should see no showers or thunderstorms today. We are still dealing with some smoke/haze which is producing mainly moderate air quality. The main culprit is a cluster of wildfires across north Idaho. The HRRR shows the smoke/haze lingering into Monday. High temps today were a degree or two warmer than the NBM forecast once again. Although, it is an improvement over yesterday. So, the NBM may be learning and catching up. With that said, we`re likely looking at solid mid 80s for most of the communities across the Snake Plain and Magic Valley today with highs in the lower 80s for communities in the mountains and highlands. Winds today once again look light. Mostly clear skies with light winds are expected tonight. Low should fall into the upper 40s to low 50s for most communities. Areas around Stanley, Soda Springs, and Bear Lake could see lows closer to 40. && .LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... Issued at 145 PM MDT Sat Aug 30 2025 Most of the week remains under the influence of amplified ridge of high pressure across the west. Dry conditions largely forecast, with temperatures remaining generally in the 80s. There is still a non- zero chance of a thunderstorm or two breaking out over higher terrain dayto-day, but confidence is low and the model means and forecast remain dry through Friday. By Friday, ensemble clusters begin to break down the ridge and allow moisture around the high into East Idaho. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z MONDAY/... Issued at 405 AM MDT Sun Aug 31 2025 Clear skies with light winds expected over the next 24 hours. Winds at SUN and DIJ will likely turn upvalley this afternoon. && .FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1246 AM MDT Sun Aug 31 2025 Mostly dry weather with light winds is expected to continue into Monday. Minimum humidities will fall into the upper teens and lower 20s through Monday. && .PIH WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... None. && $$ SHORT TERM...13 LONG TERM...DMH AVIATION...13 FIRE WEATHER...13
