.KEY MESSAGES...

- Dangerous Heat & Expanding Advisories: A Heat Advisory remains
  active through Saturday across lower elevations, where
  temperatures are reaching the mid-to-upper 90s with isolated
  100F readings possible in the lower Snake Plain and Magic
  Valley.

- Afternoon Showers & Storms: Persistent southwest flow aloft
  will tap into Pacific moisture, triggering isolated to
  scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms
  today. Storms will favor a mix of wet and dry characteristics.
  Many Red Flag Warnings are in effect for the storms.

- Persistent Pattern Next Week: An anchored Four Corners ridge
  will lock in above-normal heat through all of next week,
  keeping lower-elevation highs in the mid-to-upper 90s and
  likely necessitating additional heat headlines.

Southwest flow aloft continues and main impacts remain extreme
heat with heat advisories in place for the Snake PLain, Eastern
Magic Valley and southern hills. Will have scattered
thunderstorms again in the southern hills and Snake River Plain
with strong thunderstorm outflow wind gusts expected. High
temperatures again near 100 in low elevations. The heat remains
Sunday with some drying expected. Have only minimal thunderstorm
coverage on Sunday in the eastern mountains. Long term grids
have minimal convection Tuesday and Wednesday in the eastern
mountains but could see a bit more than what current grids have
with more activity possibly. Temperatures remain extremely hot
through the entirety of next week. High temperatures remain in
the mid to upper 90s in lower elevations with some triple digits
possible on many days. Mountain highs in the 80s to lower 90s.
So will be an extended period of extremely hot conditions
continuing through the end of July.

Main impact will again be afternoon thunderstorm development and
have prob30 groups at all sites other than SUN. Generally expect
after 18Z and ending before 06Z. Gust up to 45 knots possible
near thunderstorms. Sky conditions will remain VFR with some
below 10 thousand foot ceilings in thunderstorms. General wind
speeds 10 to 15 knots this afternoon at PIH and IDA with gusts
20 to 25 knots.

Main issue remains thunderstorms today with red flag warnings in
effect for zones 410, 413, and 427 for scattered coverage. Will
have near scattered coverage in zones 425 and 411 as well with
isolated coverage in 476. Strong wind gusts expected near any
thunderstorm outflow. Very hot temperatures remain in place
today. Forecast Sunday through next week is for continuing very
hot and dry conditions through the period. Not expecting
significant thunderstorm coverage going forward beyond Sunday.
