.DISCUSSION...
Broadly speaking...a break between storm systems has arrived for
today, Saturday, and the first half of Sunday, with mostly dry,
mostly clear, quiet weather expected. Digging into the details,
however, a weak/progressive shortwave trough will try to lightly
brush across the region from the north tonight. The best chance of
rain and snow showers will remain well north of the burn, but
there is a 10% chance of a shower between 9 PM this evening and 4
AM early Saturday morning. If a shower occurs, it will not be a
wetting rain (or snow). This trough will also tighten the pressure
gradient and increase winds, with the breeziest period between 6
PM this evening and 4 AM early Saturday morning. A few gusts as
high as 20-25 MPH will be possible over the burn, with one of our
models hinting at 35 MPH gusts possible (although this would be
highly dependent on how local terrain in any given spot affects
the winds...probability of a gust this high is about 15%).
Otherwise, expect some low clouds burning off this morning,
humidities gradually drying into Saturday, and high confidence in
no precipitation outside of tonight. Our next storm system arrives
Sunday afternoon.
