Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
154 PM SST Sat Aug 30 2025

.Discussion...
A mid-level high pressure system continues fair weather for the
territory. This is evident on latest satellite and surface
observations showing sunny and partly cloudy skies. Expect stable
conditions to remain through Sunday becoming slightly unstable on
Monday. A strong high pressure system extending from the
southwest is forecast to converge with current east winds. This
wind convergence will create a slight lifting mechanism for
shower development embedded within the trade wind flow. Expect
scattered showers through midweek, increasing to numerous showers
by the end of the week as a trough moves in the area. Breezy winds
will hold for the rest of the forecast period.

.Marine...
Calm ocean conditions remain for the territory as no significant
swells or winds are observed in the area. Wave heights around 5 to
7 feet and low peak periods of 9 seconds are reported at the
PacIOOS buoys. Expect these conditions to continue through the end
of this weekend before gradually increasing Monday. A strong
south swell is anticipated to move in the area by then, followed
by breezy southeast winds. Hazardous seas will hold through at
least midweek before gradually diminishing as swells and winds
subside.
