Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between
the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is
based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,
and meteorological analysis.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

None.

...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS...

TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...
There are a couple of trade-wind troughs across the region. The
first is located just west of the Marianas, extending from 12N142E to
16N143E. Little to no shower activity is seen with this trough. The
trough will move westward as it weakens over the next day or two.

The last trough is seen east of Majuro, or from 6N173E to 10N177E.
Scattered showers are seen along and east of the trough where it
interacts with the ITCZ. This trough will amplify and bring showers
to Majuro late tonight as it moves westward.

TUTT...
The TUTT enters our region at 25N176E, stretching west-southwestward
to a TUTT cell near 20N150E, and then continues west-southwestward
to a TUTT cell near 18N137E before exiting our region to the
southwest at 12N130E. Scattered to numerous showers and isolated to
scattered thunderstorms are seen near the TUTT cell located at
20N150E, where the TUTT interacts with a surface trough. The TUTT is
forecasted to split over the next day or two, with the western half
drifting westward and weakening, while the eastern half shifts
southeast and intensifies.

OTHER SYSTEMS...
A surface trough extends from just west of the CNMI or 16N143E to
the northern edge of our region at 25N148E. Scattered to numerous
showers are seen over portions of the far northern CNMI, where the
surface trough interacts with a TUTT cell. This feature is expected
to remain nearly stationary as a potential disturbance forms.

...ITCZ...
The ITCZ is currently broken up with a fragment located just
southeast of Palau, or EQ160E to 6N135E. Numerous to widespread
showers and isolated thunderstorms are seen along the western edge of
the ITCZ, impacting Yap and Palau this morning. The second portion
of the ITCZ extends from EQ180 to 6N171E. Scattered showers are seen
where the ITCZ intersects a trade-wind trough east of Majuro. The
ITCZ is forecasted to intensify across western Micronesia over the
next day or two, while remaining fragmented across eastern
Micronesia.
