Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between
the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is
based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,
and meteorological analysis.

...SPECIAL FEATURES...

None.

...OTHER WEATHER SYSTEMS...

NEAR EQUATORIAL TROUGH...
The Near Equatorial Trough (NET) extends east-southeast from Invest
92W, crossing 130E near 9N. It continues east-southeast to beyond
the Equator near 160E. Numerous to widespread showers and isolated
thunderstorms are found north of the trough, north of Palau, west of
Yap Proper, where a trade-wind trough is interacting with the NET.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are found south of the trough from
130E to near 154E. Another area of scattered to numerous showers is
found along and south of the eastern end of the trough, south of
Pohnpei, just east of Kapingamarangi. The NET is expected to slowly
drift west over the coming days, with little change in intensity.

TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...
The first trade-wind trough is found northeast of Palau, extending
north-northwest from near 8N136E to end near 13N134E. This trough is
interacting with the NET to produce numerous to widespread showers
and isolated thunderstorms from between Yap and Palau to northwest of
Palau. This trough will continue to move west over the next few days,
likely moving out of the AOR within the next 24 hours.

Another trade-wind trough is found east of Kosrae, extending north
from near 1N165E to end near 7N165E. Scattered showers and isolated
thunderstorms are found along and west of the trough, including over
Kosrae. The trough will continue to move west over the next few days,
likely interacting with the far eastern end of the NET within the
next couple of days.

The last trade-wind trough is seen along the Date Line, extending
north from near 4N180 to end near 10N180. This trough is producing
scattered showers and a couple of thunderstorms east of Majuro Atoll
to the Date Line.

TRADE-WIND SURGE...
A trade-wind surge is seen on the latest ASCAT analysis between 9N
and 20N, well east of the Marianas from 156E to 175E. This surge,
combined with weak divergence associated with a weakening TUTT low
centered near 12N168E, is producing scattered showers and
thunderstorms between 11N and 14N from 162E to 167E. An area of
scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms is found along the
northern edge of the surge from 159E to the Date Line. The surge will
gradually weaken and retreat eastward as the mid-latitude high
pressure system producing the surge continues to move east.

TUTT...
A weakening TUTT enters the area near 17N180, extending west-
southwest to a weak TUTT low centered near 12N168E. The TUTT then
continues west-southwest to end at another weak TUTT low centered
near 9N153E. Divergence associated with the first TUTT low is
interacting with the trade-wind surge to generate scattered showers
and thunderstorms between 11N and 14N. Divergence southeast of the
second TUTT low is generating scattered showers across Kosrae. The
TUTT and TUTT lows are expected to remain quasi-stationary and slowly
weaken over the next few days.

OTHER SYSTEMS...

SHEAR LINE...
A weakening shear line extends west-southwest from near 25N178E to
end over the far northern CNMI near 20N146E. Spotty clouds and
showers are found along the shear line. Near-gale force winds are
seen north of the shear line, north of 25N. The shear line will
continue to drift east as it weakens over the coming days.
