Tropical Weather Discussion for the Western North Pacific between
the Equator and 25N from 130E to 180. The following information is
based on recent satellite imagery/data, weather observations, radar,
and meteorological analysis.

MONSOON TROUGH...
The monsoon trough enters our Area of Responsibility (AOR) near
25N134E, extending southeast through a col centered north-northeast
of the Marianas. From there, the trough continues south-southeast
towards eastern Micronesia, passing through an embedded circulation
centered near 10N167E (northeast of Enewetak) before exiting the Date
Line to the east around 10N. Scattered to numerous showers and
isolated thunderstorms are occurring about 180 to 200 miles south of
the trough axis from 130E to 144E, just east of the Marianas. In
addition, a line of convergence begins at the center of the
previously mentioned circulation, extends over Majuro, and exits the
AOR at the Date Line south of the monsoon trough around 5N.
Widespread cloud cover, scattered to numerous showers, and convection
are evident along and south of this convergence. The monsoon trough
is expected to remain fairly unchanged in intensity and location for
the next few days, potentially spinning up several embedded
disturbances.

SURFACE TROUGHS...
A surface trough extends southwest from the circulation near
Enewetak, centered near 10N167E, to the Equator around 145E. An area
of numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms is occurring south of
Eauripik and Satawal of eastern Yap State, as well as Weno, Chuuk.
The trough will maintain its current intensity and location as the
circulation moves to the west.

TRADE-WIND TROUGHS...
A trade-wind trough extends from 16N167E west-northwest to 20N162E.
The leading edge of the trough is allowing for deep convection,
numerous showers, and isolated thunderstorms west of Wake Island. A
few thunderstorms trail behind under cirrus from previous
thunderstorm activity, well to the west-southwest and northeast of
Wake. This trough looks to continue moving west while maintaining its
current intensity over the next several days.

Another trade-wind trough is located from 13N179E extending north-
northwest to 19N175E. Shower activity is not as impressive as the
trough mentioned above, however, convection is initiating near the
northern-most tip of the trough axis. Isolated to scattered showers
and partly to mostly cloudy skies are characteristic of this trough.
Over the next few days, this trough will remain nearly-stationary
while maintaining its current intensity.
