WATCHES AND WARNINGS
--------------------

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the islands of Fananu
Ulul Chuuk Losap Lukunor Sapwuafik and Pakin.

Damaging tropical storm force winds are possible for the above
highlighted islands and any nearby or neighboring islands.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions,
including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are possible within 48 hours.

Residents of Guam Rota Tinian Saipan Anatahan Alamagan Pagan
Agrihan should carefully monitor the progress of TROPICAL
DEPRESSION SEVENTEEN

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 17W
was located near Latitude 8.0 degrees North and Longitude
154.8 degrees East. 17W is moving west at 2 mph. It is expected
to make a turn toward the north-northwest with an increase in
forward speed through Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are 30 mph. 17W is forecast to intensify
through Thursday.
