None. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended action for people on Ulithi and Fais in Yap State. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Ulithi and Fais in Yap State. A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected within 24 hours, possibly as early as late tonight. .STORM INFORMATION... At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 32W was located near Latitude 8.4 degrees North and Longitude 141.6 degrees East. 32W is moving south at 8 mph and remains elongated across eastern Yap State. It is expected to make a turn toward the north-northwest as the circulation consolidates, becoming quasi- stationary just east of Fais before turning toward the northwest tonight. This forecast track will take TD 32W close to Ulithi and Fais in Yap State. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 35 mph. 32W is forecast to intensify through tonight, likely becoming a tropical storm as it approaches Fais this afternoon. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... TD 32W is expected to become quasi-stationary southeast of Fais, then make a turn toward the northwest, passing near Fais and northeast of Ulithi. Numerous to widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms are developing around the center of TD 32W, generating gusty winds. A TS warning has been issued for the expectation of tropical storm force winds as TD 32W passes near Fais and Ulithi to their northeast. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For those under a warning, preparations for the protection of life and property should already be complete. Seek sturdy shelter if directed to do so by local officials, or if your home is vulnerable to high winds or flooding, or if it has a metal roof. Ensure that you have enough food and water to last at least a couple of days. Ensure loose items are secured from strong, gusty winds and heavy downpours. It is important to actively listen for forthcoming information from the National Weather Service and your local emergency management offices. .NEXT UPDATE... The next local statement will be issued by the National Weather Service in Guam by 3 PM ChST this afternoon, or sooner, if warranted. ...ULITHI AND FAIS... ...TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT... .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... The latest forecast track shows TD 32W becoming quasi-stationary southeast of Fais before turning toward the northwest and passing near Fais and northeast of Ulithi. North to northeast winds around 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph in heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to increase to 25 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph as TD 32W approaches from the east. Tropical storm force winds of 39 mph or greater are expected as 32W nears the islands tonight into Thursday, as it turns towards the northwest. As 32W passes to the northeast, Thursday, winds are expected to shift west to northwest. Maximum winds of 50 to 70 mph are possible Thursday morning. Winds will then shift towards the southwest Friday into Saturday while decreasing with the departure of 32W. .COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION... Surf will rise along east and north facing reefs with surf reaching hazardous levels of 10 to 13 feet. There will also be above-normal high tides over the next few days around the time of the full moon. Wind and wave-driven coastal inundation of up to 1 to 2 feet will be possible along windward facing shorelines, especially at times of high tide. As 32W passes northeast and then north of Fais and Ulithi, surf will start to build along west and south facing reefs. Seas are expected to build to 10 to 13 feet as 32W nears Wednesday night and Thursday. .OTHER STORM EFFECTS... Periods of heavy showers and thunderstorms will persist through at least Saturday before tapering off Sunday. Rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are possible through Saturday. $$ Kleeschulte
