WATCHES AND WARNINGS
--------------------
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Tinian, Saipan,
Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan in the CNMI.

A Typhoon Watch remains in effect for Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan
in the CNMI.

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are
expected within 24 hours.

A Typhoon Watch means that typhoon conditions, including winds of 74
mph or more, are possible within 48 hours.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Choi-wan
was located near Latitude 16.6 degrees North and Longitude
145.5 degrees East. Choi-wan is moving west at 12 mph. It is
expected to slow as it continues westward early this morning,
passing to the south of Alamagan. Choi-wan is then expected to
make a turn toward the northwest, then north with a decrease in
forward speed through Friday. Then, Choi-wan looks to gradually
turn to the north-northeast late Friday night through Saturday
after it emerges west of the northern islands.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 60 mph. Choi-wan is
forecast to intensify through Saturday, potentially becoming a
typhoon Friday afternoon or evening.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
125 miles.

An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather
Service at 500 AM ChST followed by the next scheduled advisory at
800 AM ChST.
