WATCHES AND WARNINGS
--------------------
A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Alamagan, Agrihan, and Pagan
in the CNMI.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Tinian and Saipan in
the CNMI.

A Typhoon Warning means that typhoon conditions are expected,
including winds of 74 mph or more, with tropical storm force winds
beginning within 24 hours.
A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions,
including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected within 24 hours.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Typhoon Choi-wan was located
near Latitude 18.4 degrees North and Longitude 144.9 degrees East.
Choi-wan is moving north at 6 mph. It is expected to make a slight
turn toward the north-northeast with a slight increase in forward
speed through Sunday, passing to the west of Pagan shortly.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 85 mph. Choi-wan is forecast
to intensify through tonight, becoming Category 2 as it passes Agrihan
today, then Category 3 tonight as it moves away.

Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 110 miles to
the south and up to 50 miles to the north. Tropical storm force winds
extend outward from the center up to 240 miles to the south and up to
175 miles to the north.

NEXT ADVISORY

An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather
Service in Tiyan, Guam at 1100 AM ChST later this morning, followed by
the next scheduled advisory at 200 PM ChST this afternoon.
