Spot Forecast for Blacktip...WA DNR
National Weather Service Portland OR
316 AM PST Thu Jan 1 2026

Forecast is based on ignition time of 0500 PST on January 01.
If conditions become unrepresentative, contact the National Weather
Service.

.DISCUSSION...A slow pattern change is expected through today.
The persistent high pressure that has been anchored over the
region will be pushed eastward by a slowly approaching low and warm
front from the south. Winds will remain out the east, but will
slowly become more southerly behind approaching front. Cold air, at
the surface from the high pressure is expected to linger through
today and into tomorrow. Given that warm precipitation is expected
to overrun said cold air, expect freezing rain starting sometime
today an will likely continue through at least tonight. By Friday,
conditions should have warmed up above freezing resulting in rain
rather than any wintery (snow/ice) precipitation. The relatively
warm and rainy conditions are expected to persist through at least
the weekend.
