...FLOOD WARNING FOR THE UPSTREAM RELEASE OF SALT RIVER BELOW TEMPE
TOWN LAKE ON THE SALT RIVER NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM MST THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban areas and small streams flooding caused by upstream
  dam release continues.

* WHERE...Maricopa County in south central Arizona...

* WHEN...Until 1100 PM MST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is occurring. Low-water crossings are
  inundated with water and may not be passable. Flooding of low water
  crossings across the Salt River downstream of Tempe Town Lake is
  occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1248 PM MST, dam operators reported water release from Tempe
    Town Lake. Flooding due to a dam floodgate release will continue.
    A few streamflow gauges downstream from Tempe Town Lake were
    reporting flows around 500-1500 cfs.
  - Flooding is occurring along the Salt River.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Phoenix, Laveen, and Avondale.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
