Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 644 PM MDT, local law enforcement flooding of forest roads and rural bridges. Flooding is already occurring. Fall Creek Road and Park Creek Roads are reported flooded or impassable. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen with up to 4 inches estimated on the southeast facing slopes. - Although the rainfall has largely ended, another round may bring additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area later tonight. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Wolf Creek Pass, Platoro and Cumbres Pass as well as much of the back country of southern Mineral, Southwest Rio Grande and western Conejos Counties. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. Additional heavy rains may trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains.
