...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT MDT TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
  expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Colorado, including the
  following counties, Conejos, Mineral and Rio Grande.

* WHEN...Until midnight MDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 644 PM MDT, local law enforcement flooding of forest roads
    and rural bridges.  Flooding is already occurring. Fall Creek
    Road and Park Creek Roads are reported flooded or impassable.
    Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen with up to 4
    inches estimated on the southeast facing slopes.
  - Although the rainfall has largely ended, another round may
    bring additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible
    in the warned area later tonight.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Wolf Creek Pass, Platoro and Cumbres Pass as well as much of
    the back country of southern Mineral, Southwest Rio Grande
    and western Conejos Counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos
is likely. Additional heavy rains may trigger rockslides, mudslides
and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these
areas.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
