...A Red Flag Warning has been issued from 12 PM to 9 PM today
for portions of the Continental Divide..
.Discussion...
Concerns for critical fire conditions have increased, and given
this, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for portions of the
Continental Divide given severe to extreme drought conditions and
fuels being listed as critical. Other areas west of the I-25
corridor are still expected to meet meteorological critical fire
weather conditions today, but latest fuels updates are still
listed as non-critical (too green for extreme wildfire behavior),
so no additional fire weather highlights are expected at this
time. With that all said though, additional fire weather
highlights will likely be needed tomorrow for the same areas, and
if any additional fuel updates arrive, other zones may be added.
Cooler with isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible for
the eastern half of the district Tuesday and Wednesday. Hot and
dry conditions will return for late week into next weekend, with
elevated fire danger returning to western areas where drought
conditions have been more persistent. Fire Weather highlights will
be possible depending on the status of fuel conditions.
Afternoon smoke dispersions will be Very Good to Excellent Today and
Tuesday over and near the mountains, and Good or better over the
eastern plains.
