Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
945 AM MDT Mon Mar 31 2025

...Red Flag Warning in effect for today from noon to 9 PM for the San
Luis Valley and portions of the Plains....

...Red Flag Warning has been issued from noon to 7 PM for Tuesday for
portions of the Eastern Plains...

.Discussion...

High fire danger will prevail across most of the district through
Wednesday, with the most dangerous conditions forecast on Tuesday.
For today, areas across the San Luis Valley, east into the Plains
will see westerly winds with gusts 40 to 50 mph. For Tuesday, a
strong southwesterly jet will spread across the region, enhancing
mixing and spreading very strong winds across the Plains. Gusts in
excess of 60 mph are forecast. Northwesterly flow will fill in behind
the departing system, but remain gusty, especially for the San Luis
Valley and I-25 corridor. Periods of snow, with accumulations are
expected along the Continental Divide through Wednesday. A storm
system is likely to impact the area Friday through the weekend with
elevated chances for widespread, heavy precipitation. There is still
uncertainty with this potential, slow moving storm system.

Smoke dispersions will rise from fair to excellent this afternoon,
and return to poor overnight.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
