.Discussion...
Brief, spotty critical meteorological fire weather conditions are
possible across the San Luis Valley today, where humidity values are
expected to fall into the low teens and southerly winds are likely
to gust to around 25 mph. Above normal temperatures and very dry
conditions are likely across the entire forecast area, with high
based gusty thunderstorms possible over our southeast plains this
afternoon.
Winds and temperatures increase on Friday, which will in turn
decrease humidity values. Southwest winds are likely to gust to
around 35 mph for much of the area tomorrow, with gusts to 45 mph
possible over higher mountain peaks. Humidity values are likely to
fall into the low teens. Temperatures will be around 9 to 12 degrees
above normal, with highs up to around 105F on our plains. Excessive
Heat Advisories are in effect for El Paso, Pueblo, and eastern
Fremont Counties. For now, only the San Juans, La Garitas, and
central mountains are under Red Flag Warnings for tomorrow, where
fuels have been deemed critical by partners. Continued dry
conditions and above normal temperatures could lead to changes in
fuels and expanded highlights across the I-25 corridor, the San Luis
Valley, and possibly the eastern mountains.
Above normal temperatures and dry conditions persist into Saturday,
with even stronger southwest winds pushing in. Widespread critical
meteorological fire weather conditions are likely on Saturday (80%
chance), with widespread highlights possible if today and tomorrow`s
conditions effect our fuels status. Conditions look to become less
widespread and less intense by Sunday and into early next week as
our pattern eventually shifts.
Afternoon smoke dispersion rates will be excellent today and
tomorrow.
