.Discussion...
Brief elevated fire weather conditions will be possible over western
Pueblo county today, where dry air and breezy northwest winds will
align through the late morning hours. As winds shift northeasterly
though, relative humidity values are expected to increase, which
should help to stave off the need for any fire weather highlights
through the rest of today.
Spotty elevated fire weather conditions will be possible in our gap
flow areas for Sunday as well, mainly through eastern Fremont,
western Pueblo, and Huerfano counties. At this time, elevated
conditions are not expected to be long-lived or widespread enough to
warrant fire weather highlights in either location.
Beyond tomorrow, the forecast is less certain. Another system looks
to glance by to our north, which could bring drier and windier
conditions to portions of the area on Monday, along with cooler
temperatures for Monday into Tuesday. Models suggest that a low
coming in from southern California could make its way towards us by
the Wednesday into Thursday timeframe, which would likely bring
precipitation chances back, at least for the high country.
Afternoon smoke dispersions will be excellent over the plains and
good or better for most of the high country today. Rates will vary
drastically by zone tomorrow. Please see specific zone forecasts
below for more details.
