.Discussion...
Temperatures remain warmer than normal for today through Friday,
with very spotty elevated fire weather conditions possible over
eastern Las Animas and Baca counties today. Southerly and
southwesterly winds will be occasionally gusty to 25 mph, and
relative humidity values look to dip into the mid to upper teens
this afternoon over our southeast plains.
Critical fire weather conditions are not expected for tomorrow. A
system looks to approach through this weekend, bringing chances for
rain and snow by the Sunday or Monday timeframe. We`ll be dry ahead
of it on Friday, though winds look to remain below critical
thresholds throughout the day on Friday. Winds pick up by Saturday,
but southwesterly flow ahead of the system will also bring humidity
values up on Saturday as well. Overall, critical fire weather is not
likely either day at this point.
Afternoon smoke dispersions will be poor over the San Luis Valley,
El Paso, Pueblo, Crowley, and Otero counties (zones 224, 226, 227,
228, 231, 232) today, with fair or better ratings for all other
zones. Rates will be poor across all lower elevation zones tomorrow,
with fair or better for most mountain zones.
