.Discussion...
Meteorological conditions for extreme fire behavior are not
anticipated during this forecast period.
Temperatures will be around 100F over the eastern plains
today with upper 80s in the valleys. Very little if any
measurable precipitation is expected prior to 6 pm today.
During the early evening hours, a cool front will move south
across the plains. This front may initiate a few thunderstorms
across the southern mountains and plains this evening into the
early morning hours. A strong storm or two will be possible
this evening, with localized heavy rain, hail and strong wind
gusts.
On Wednesday, localized heavy rain is expected to occur along
southern mountains and I-25 corridor. Flash flooding will be
possible across the Aspen Acres burn scar. OVer the remainder
of the district it will likely remain dry. It will be 5 to 10
degrees cooler during this day as compared to Tuesday.
From Thursday into the weekend, it will become very warm again
with temperatures approaching 100F over parts of the plains and
80s in the valleys. Showers and storms will be isolated over the
plains, scattered over the southern mountains and valleys and
scattered to numerous over the Continental Divide region.
For next week, a better monsoon plume is forecast to move over
the district, It will become a bit cooler and there will a
much better chance of rain over the district during this time
period.
Smoke dispersion will be very good or better over the district
this afternoon. It will be fair to good tomorrow afternoon
across the district.
