.DISCUSSION...

Northwest winds are gusty this morning along the ridgetops above
the burn site. USAFA sensors along the Ramparts are showing gusts
to 40 mph. Westerly winds with gusts to 25 mph are likely to
continue through today at the burn site, with gusts to 35 mph
likely for tomorrow, especially on the lee side of the slopes
where downsloping will be enhanced. Fair dispersions are expected
briefly this afternoon, with an inversion aloft keeping mixing
heights low and dispersals poor through much of the forecast
period, especially for tomorrow`s forecast. The dispersal
forecast is very tricky due to this inversion aloft, and may be
changed with slightly more surface warming, so please feel free to
call and check back for updates. Today looks better than tomorrow
for dispersion rates, but neither day looks great despite the
gusty winds. Precipitation is not expected for the rest of this
week.
