.DISCUSSION...

Breezy northwest winds with gusts near 40 mph are expected today.
Lodgepole flats RAWS and Leadville ASOS are both showing gusty
north winds already this morning. Depending on location of the
piles, gusts in the 40 to 50 mph range may be possible higher up
the lee slopes where downsloping will be strongest. Mixing heights
will be low today, due to an inversion aloft setting up this
afternoon. This will mean dispersals that are good for a few
hours at 9,500-9,800 feet, but the smoke may not get far off the
ground with these lower mixing heights. Gusty surface winds should
help to overcome this, but be aware of this inversion aloft
sitting 1,000-2,000 overhead today, especially if you have any
piles you plan to burn that are higher than the elevation called
for in this spot. Please feel free to call us for updates on this
