...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central North Carolina, including the
  following counties, Anson, Montgomery, Richmond and Stanly.

* WHEN...Until 1030 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  River or stream flows are elevated, especially along the Rocky
  River and its tributaries. Ponding of water in urban or other
  areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 719 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have
    fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Wadesboro, Ansonville, Polkton, Locust, Norwood, Oakboro,
    Stanfield, Mount Gilead, Lilesville, Peachland, Uwharrie
    Haven, and White Store.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
