The National Weather Service Raleigh Weather Forecast Office
in Raleigh will be conducting a required, scheduled update
to our Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS)
computer system.

The following NOAA Weather Radio transmitters, programmed by NWS
Raleigh, will be off the air during most of the AWIPS update:


WWF-60, located at Buck Mountain and serving the southern
Piedmont on 162.500 MHZ.

WXL-58, located in Chapel Hill and serving the northeast Piedmont
on 162.550 MHZ.

WNG-597, located in Ellerbe and serving the southern
Piedmont...western Sandhills and northeastern South Carolina on
162.400 MHZ.

WNG-706, located in Garner and serving the eastern Piedmont and
central coastal plain on 162.450 MHZ.

WNG-586, located in Henderson and serving the northeast Piedmont
and south central Virginia on 162.500 MHZ.

WXL-59, located in Tarboro and serving the northern and central
coastal plain on 162.475 MHZ.

WXL-42, located in Greensboro and serving northwest North
Carolina and adjacent Virginia counties on 162.400 MHZ.

During this maintenance period, both Garner and Chapel Hill
transmitters are expected to be out of service for approximately
60 hours.

During this time, the transmitter cannot be restored within an
hour.
