.DISCUSSION...

Plan on a mild and dry weekend as transient high pressure takes
residence across the Sierra and western Nevada. High temperatures
will be around seasonal averages along with relatively light winds
areawide. East to northeast ridge winds may be more breezy
through the weekend with gusts up to 30 mph possible. Temperatures
will be seasonally cool each night with most of the smoke/haze
dispersed from the area as well. The east to northeast flow should
limit wildfire smoke infiltrating into the eastern Sierra through
the weekend.

High pressure doesn`t stick around very long as a weak, cutoff low
sweeps across central CA into NV from late Sunday into Monday.
Blended guidance shows low chances for precipitation (10-20%)
associated with the low passing through, but primarily for areas
south of Lake Tahoe in Mono and Mineral counties. Thunder
probabilities are fairly scant (8-10%), but can`t rule it out
completely. Otherwise, it will be pretty dry and warm for the
rest of the region.

Ensemble clusters hold steady with the trend of a large trough off
the West Coast for late next week into next weekend. Blended
guidance also maintains the potential for slightly wetter and
more windy conditions from Friday onward with the large trough in
the vicinity.

.AVIATION...

Plan on VFR conditions today with light north to northeast breezes
in the afternoon. The E-NE winds along and west of the Sierra crest
will be breezy through the weekend, which may result in minor
mountain wave turbulence concerns along and west of the Sierra.
