.DISCUSSION...

Warm and dry weather prevails into the weekend as high pressure
settles overhead. Today will be nearly 5 to 10 degrees warmer than
Tuesday as temperatures climb into the mid 70s and 80s in the
afternoon. Further warming is expected through Friday or Saturday,
pushing highs closer to 90F for lower valley communities --
including the Greater Reno-Carson-Minden area. A slow cooling trend
begins after Saturday, but temperatures remain above seasonal
averages well into next week.

The sole opportunity for precipitation will be Sunday into Monday as
weak low pressure pivots through the region. Rain chances have
trended higher in latest blended guidance with 10-30% odds favoring
the Tahoe-Reno area south to Mono-Mineral counties. Thunderstorm
chances also increase to 10-15% Sunday afternoon in a similar area.
Lesser shower and thunderstorm odds exist elsewhere, although a few
isolated showers may develop in Lassen County. Otherwise, a warmer
and drier than normal weather pattern is favored through at least
mid-October.

.AVIATION...

High pressure maintains widespread VFR conditions and light breezes
into the weekend. A weak low pressure passage will deliver a low
chance (10-30%) of showers and thunderstorms to KTRK-KTVL-KMMH
Sunday into Monday.
