.DISCUSSION...

High pressure aloft will keep the area dry and mild through the
week, allowing for ideal pre-holiday travel conditions and pleasant
weather on Thanksgiving Day. Nights and mornings will continue to be
met with chilly temperatures each day, so be sure to grab a coat on
your way out the door. Hazy skies and degraded air quality will
persist across lower urban valleys amid stout nocturnal inversions,
but heating/mixing should scour our pollutant build-ups in the
afternoons.

Thanksgiving is slated to be the warmest day of the week as daytime
highs reach the mid 50s to low 60s for Sierra communities and the
upper 50s to mid 60s in NE CA/W NV valleys. Winds will also be a
skosh breezier in the afternoon -- especially for areas nearest to
the Oregon border -- in response to a transient low pressure passage
to our north. Otherwise, it`s shaping up to be a nice holiday
weather-wise!

The weather pattern becomes more favorable for a series of slider-
type lows to dig across the western states this weekend into next
week. These systems tend to bring us colder temperatures and brisk
winds, but are not major rain/snow producers owing to a lack of
attendant moisture. Not to say we won`t see any rain or snow as
chances do increase to 10-20% over the weekend, but totals will
trend on the lighter side. Confidence is low on precip details as
there is much uncertainty in the exact trajectory of these lows, but
it`s a good bet that we`ll see a notable cooldown and breezy winds
this weekend into next week.

.AVIATION...

Valley inversions and reductions to slantwise visibilities will be
the main concern each morning and evening through the holiday.
Otherwise, VFR conditions and light winds prevail.
