001 WWUS85 KREV 092340 SPSREV Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Reno NV 440 PM PDT Sun Jun 9 2024 CAZ071-100015- Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties CA- 440 PM PDT Sun Jun 9 2024 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL LASSEN COUNTY THROUGH 515 PM PDT... At 439 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Aspen Grove Campground, or 8 miles south of Eagle Lake, moving northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Eagle Lake, Spaulding, Aspen Grove Campground, Christie Campground, Merrill Campground, and Eagle Campground. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. If on or near Eagle Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
