Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and Central Wyoming
National Weather Service Riverton WY

.DISCUSSION...

...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather
zones 140...414...415...and 416)...

Similar warm and dry conditions today compared to yesterday. Most
areas remain dry today, though an isolated (15% or less) chance of a
shower/storm is possible over zone 416 from about noon through the
mid-afternoon, and for zone 140. Otherwise, winds are generally from
the southwest today, with afternoon gusts 20 to 30 mph.

...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276...
282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)...

Today is a very similar day to yesterday. Hot and dry conditions are
in place, with showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon
and evening. Storms will be around, but chances are generally 15 to
30 percent, so another hit-or-miss kind of day. Strong winds over 50
mph and hail are the main hazards. Strongest storms are favored for
zones 275, 282, and 285.

...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278...
279...280...281...285...289...and 300)...

Today is a very similar day to yesterday. No storms are expected for
zones 277, 278, 279, and most of 289, but will have elevated fire
weather conditions due to low RHs (around 10%) and gusty afternoon
winds. East of the Divide, storm chances occur starting around noon,
continuing through about midnight. Like yesterday, chances of storms
will be a hit-or-miss, with 15 to 40 percent chances most places.
Strong winds over 50 mph and hail are the main hazards. The
strongest storms are favored in zone 281, which also has the highest
chance to see storms (70%).

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
