...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...North Central Washington County in southeastern Ohio...

* WHEN...Until 700 AM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Several roads
  remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to
  excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1000 PM EDT, the automated gauge on Duck Creek at Macksburg
    was at 13.4 feet, just above its minor flood stage of 13 feet,
    and very slowly rising. Bankfull is 10 feet. Farther downstream
    on Duck Creek, the automated gauge at Whipple was up to 7.5 feet
    and rising. It may reach its bankfull stage and even its minor
    flood stage of 13 feet overnight. Flooding is ongoing or expected
    to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of
    rain fell Thursday morning.
  - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Marietta, Macksburg, Lower Salem and Devola.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
