.DISCUSSION...
Hot temperatures and high humidity are expected once again this
afternoon ahead of a cold front, with heat indices reaching
the middle 90s to near 100 degrees across portions of the lowlands.
The slow-moving cold front will bring scattered showers and storms
to the area this afternoon and tonight. Some storms may be on the
heavy side, with gusty winds and downpours that could result in
localized flash flooding, especially during the predawn hours
Friday. Friday will be slightly cooler and drier, with lingering
shower and storm chances mainly confined to the southern coalfields
and mountains. After a mainly dry start to the weekend, unsettled
weather returns late Saturday and onward as the front lifts back
north across the area and lingers nearby, bringing a return of daily
chances for showers and storms into next week.
