The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southern Amherst County in central Virginia...
  Appomattox County in central Virginia...
  Northern Campbell County in central Virginia...
  The City of Lynchburg in central Virginia...
  Northeastern Bedford County in south central Virginia...

* Until 600 AM EDT.

* At 1202 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain
  have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 3 inches in 1
  hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in
  the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly.

  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban
           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as
           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

  Evington...

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Allens Creek, Bear Branch, Big Otter River, Bent Creek, Appomattox
  River and Abbott Branch.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
