465 AGUS76 KRSA 131325 HMDRSA Hydrometeorological Discussion National Weather Service / California-Nevada RFC / Sacramento CA 625 AM PDT Thu Aug 13 2026 ...BEST CHANCE SCATTERED SHOWERS/T-STORMS TODAY THEN DECREASING... ...COOLER THAN AVERAGE TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE PERIOD... .METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS (THU AM - WED AM)... Radar imagery this morning shows a cluster of showers and embedded thunderstorms moving across northern NV with the best activity primarily along I-80 from Lovelock to Winnemucca. Precip gauges over the past 6-hours show several gauges between a few hundredths of an inch and 0.10-inch...except for KLOL that saw 0.47-inch ending at 13/13Z. This is all associated with a disturbance moving through the southwest flow aloft now located over northeast NV. A secondary mid-level disturbance is located near the central CA coast and will make its way toward the northeast today...traversing central CA on its way toward northern NV. This should bring another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms primarily impacting the central/southern Sierra along with much of NV. Best precip totals are currently anticipated over the central portion of NV along the US-50 corridor...where areal averaged amounts will range from 0.25- to 0.50-inch. The general troffing along the west coast will begin to weaken a bit tomorrow before a s/wv trof dropping southward along 140W digs a broad trof farther offshore between 140W and 130W for the weekend. Available moisture over the region will also erode under this drier southwest flow aloft. Best chance of precip on Friday will be eastern NV before the opportunity for precip really diminishes this weekend into early next week. Temperatures will continue to run below average through the period with anomalies of minus 5- to locally minus 20-degF bottoming out either Friday or Saturday. Then there will be some moderation of the temperatures upward into early next week. Freezing levels are currently running from 13500- to 15000-feet across the region from northwest to southeast...fluctuating little through Saturday...before seeing an increase into early next week. This increase will be especially true over southern CA and southern NV. By Tuesday...look for freezing levels to range from 14000- to 17500-feet.
