.DISCUSSION...A slight chance of dry thunderstorms is forecast for
the Cascades tomorrow (10-15%) as low pressure remains offshore.
Additionally, there is a threat of thunderstorms along the west
slopes of the Olympic mountains through around noon today. Steep
lapse rates offer plenty of downdraft potential, but there is
insufficient moisture and weak lift, leading to dry lightning strike
concerns. Later in the week, temperatures warm up and dry out with
hot, dry and unstable conditions by late week.
Forecast for 20 foot wind speed (valleys and ridge tops) are 10
minute averages reflecting RAWS winds.
