Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
130 PM CDT Tue Sep 2 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Winds will remain light and variable today and tonight as a low
pressure system traverses the area. Within the low-pressure zone
across southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas (south of I-44),
there is a 15-40% chance of isolated to scattered showers and
thunderstorms.

After the low pressure system passes, 5-10 mph winds will become
westerly Wednesday, before another round of showers and
thunderstorms is expected Wednesday evening into the overnight
hours (50-70% chance north of I-44). Winds then shift to northerly
with below normal temperatures returning.

Throughout the period, afternoon relative humidity values should
stay above 25-30%, with the lowest readings across the eastern
Ozarks on southern aspects.
