Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
152 PM CDT Mon Sep 7 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Heat to remain a concern with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect
west of Highway 65 through Tuesday. Southeast winds are likely
today for locations west of Highway 65. Easterly winds are
expected across the eastern ozarks. Hot temperatures will continue
through Wednesday, especially west of Highway 65. Increased wind
gusts during the afternoons on Tuesday and Wednesday could
heighten the fire danger for areas west of Highway 65.

Rain chances increase into the 60-90% range Wednesday night into
Thursday with a chance for a wetting rain and a wind shift to the
north.
