Fire Weather Planning Forecast for southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri
National Weather Service Springfield MO
229 AM CDT Sun Oct 4 2026

.DISCUSSION...

The main storyline looking ahead this week into next week will
be the persist dry and warm weather that may support some fire
weather concerns. Daily minimum relative humidity values are
progged to be around 30-40%. The lowest values will be focused
east of Highway 65, where NBM may be struggling to capture even
lower values around 20-30%. Given the conditions in place,
localized areas of elevated fire weather by mid to late this
week. However, winds do remain rather light through the week and
should limit the extent of fire weather concerns.

It will be important to keep an eye on the forecast beyond next
weekend into early next week, as ensemble guidance continues to
highlight a dry period of weather. Minimal rainfall with recent
systems will continue to amplify the drought and early Fall
fire weather conditions.
