.SYNOPSIS...
Drier and warmer weather the next several days with weak offshore
flow and high pressure building in, allowing temperatures to rise
to near normal. Slightly cooler for early next week as an upper
level low moves inland, decreasing heights. The low will bring
further cooling for the end of the next week and a low chance of
showers.

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

A nice quiet weather pattern expected through the weekend as high
pressure builds aloft. Any meaningful marine layer will remain
absent into Sunday with increasing heights, leading to sunny and
warm days with highs near normal. An upper level low pinches off of
the main trough on Friday, pivoting off the coast of Southern
California where it remains stationary into Sunday morning with
light offshore flow. As the low gets closer to the coast on
Sunday, decreasing heights and a return of a patchy marine layer
will slowly start to cool temperatures over their Saturday/Sunday
peak. Highs this weekend will be in the 70s along the coast, low
to mid 80s for valleys and the Inland Empire, 60s and low 70s in
the mountains, and upper 80s/low 90s in the Coachella Valley.

The aforementioned low moves inland Tuesday into Wednesday, with
models remaining a bit spread on how far north the system will go.
Regardless, this low will be lacking much moisture and any showers
that manage to develop will be fairly confined to the mountains,
with any precipitation expected to be light. The best chances for
rain will be Wednesday into Thursday, and temperatures will fall
both days to around 3-7 degrees below normal. As the low moves
further inland, it looks to transition to an open trough, with more
zonal flow aloft and a slow warming trend into the end of next
week.
