Light showers will become widespread and intensify this morning,
heaviest and most widespread rainfall between around 6 AM and 3
PM, There is a 15-30% chance of thunderstorms through this
evening, which could produce locally higher rainfall rates and
amounts. As the storm moves east, showers will gradually decrease
for Saturday night and Sunday.

Through Sunday, additional rainfall for the coastal areas and
valleys will range from 1.5-2.3 inches. For the mountains, amounts
will range from 2-4 inches, highest on the south facing coastal
slopes. For the high desert, amounts will range from about
0.60-1", highest hear the passes and foothills. The snow level
will remain above 10000 feet through early this afternoon, then
gradually lower to around 6500-7000 feet late tonight, rising to
around 7500 feet on Sunday.

These rainfall amounts along with the potential for periods of
higher intensity rainfall through this afternoon could produce
debris flows in burned areas, significant ponding of water on
roads and highways, and urban and small stream flooding. The
current forecast for the San Diego River has the river at Fashion
Valley rising to near monitor stage by 11 AM today, sufficient to
flood low-water crossings in Fashion Valley, and remaining above
that level into early afternoon Sunday.

Additional precipitation is likely Monday afternoon into early
Wednesday, though confidence in rainfall amounts is fairly low. The
chance of 48 hr rainfall totals (Monday morning through Wednesday
morning) exceeding 0.50" is around 45-65%, and chance of
exceeding 1" is 25-50%, lowest in the Inland Empire. Snow levels
with this storm will be lower, falling to 5500-6000 ft Monday
night, then rising to 6000-6500 ft for Tuesday afternoon into
Wednesday. A third system could move into the region sometime in
the Thursday through Saturday timeframe, but confidence in timing
and amounts with this system is low, and there is an outside
chance (less than 20%) that it tracks too far north and east to
bring any precipitation.
