.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1203 AM CDT Fri Sep 4 2026

Tropical moisture associated with the remnants of what was
Tropical Storm Edouard has largely dissipated across the region
this evening. This will not mean a complete end to our
precipitation chances though. Upper-level ridging will begin to
strengthen over the area, but we will continue to see daily
probabilities for showers and thunderstorms into the weekend. The
most favorable conditions for this activity will be through
Sunday, mainly or locations south of the I-20 corridor. However,
as the ridge gains more influence over the region, these daily
thunderstorm chances will become increasingly limited heading into
next week.

As that upper-level ridge continues to build into the weekend, a
typical summertime heat will quickly return to the area. We will
once again remain borderline for the issuance of any official
heat-related products today, but probabilities for reaching at
least advisory criteria will steadily increase heading into the
late weekend and into the start of next week. Looking ahead, there
is unfortunately no real relief from the heat in sight through the
long-term forecast period. The upper-level ridge is expected to
linger and remain entrenched over the region, keeping temperatures
elevated for the foreseeable future. /33/
