...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity for the
following rivers in Texas...

  Neches River Near Alto affecting Houston, Cherokee, Anderson and
  Angelina Counties.

For the Neches River...including Alto...Major flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive cars through flooded areas.
Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Neches River near Alto.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 21.0 feet, Fishing cabins near the river face
  flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 6:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 21.2 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 16.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 6:15 AM CDT Friday was 21.2 feet.
  - Forecast...The Neches River southwest of Alto will continue
    to rise to a flat crest near 21.6 feet late tonight, with the
    crest lingering through this weekend due to routed flow
    upstream.
  - Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    21.9 feet on 05/17/1968.
