Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
308 PM CDT Thu Oct 1 2026
.DISCUSSION...
Rain chances will continue to increase across the northwestern
half of the fire districts on this afternoon, mainly along and
north of a line from Tyler Texas to Texarkana. Rainfall could be
moderate to heavy, with 1"-3" possible. As a result, a Flood Watch
has been issued along and north of a line from Tyler, TX to
Clarksville, TX to McCurtain County, OK. Over the remainder of
the region, we should see drier conditions, with some isolated
showers and thunderstorms. Highs could still climb into the upper
80s to middle 90s, with mixing heights over 5000 ft. However, min
RH values will rise to between 45% to 55%. On tomorrow, rain
chances will remain across the region, as an upper trough and
associated cold front move into the region. At this time, it
appears the best chances will be along and west of a line from
Lufkin Texas to Shreveport to El Dorado Arkansas. However,
isolated afternoon convection will be possible over the remainder
of the region. In the districts with the lower rain chances,
mixing heights could still reach 4000 ft, with min RH values
between 50 to 60%. Rain chances will remain over the fire districts
through the weekend.
