Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
1239 AM CDT Thu Aug 28 2025

.DISCUSSION...

One last hot summer day for most of us as the SW winds this
afternoon will lift the warm front over east Texas and along I-49
or so by late in the day. More low to mid 90s and some low end
triple digit heat indices. All ahead of the approaching next cold
front which looks to do very well on the drought of late. Outflow
from up over OK will be first to bring the rain and then heating
will join in areawide in the hot humid air. The cold front will be
shifting winds north of I-20 back to NE again late in the day and
overnight as the SW flow backs around to SE and east ahead of the
boundary. A solid upper disturbance in the NW flow will work
overtime Thursday night and much of Friday with likely and
definite PoPs for a good 24 hours for most locales as rains linger
into early Saturday. The NE winds will blow over all through
Saturday as the rains slowly work out of our area. 1 to 3 inches
will be common with some higher totals possible. Of course,
beginning north of I-20 OK/AR will see the most of rain with some
elements heavy at times. Drier conditions and below average temps
await with sunshine for next week along with lowering min RH.
