Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
1234 AM CDT Fri Aug 29 2025

.DISCUSSION...

We made through another hot afternoon yesterday nearly reaching
the century mark again in Shreveport. The timing of the outflow
which merged on the backdoor cold front allowed for compressional
heating before the rain arrived. After sunset, much of the
initial wave had already moved into the very southern extent of
the LA Districts while the TX zones remained fairly dry. So we
have a Flood watch from 1am to 1pm today as the upper level front
interacts with inter disturbance slides down I-49. Pockets of
rain did well with an inch or so as the system was progressive.
The rain will continue to increase in coverage through daybreak
and then slide southward across the bulk of our region around
lunchtime. The backdoor approach with NE winds, will take another
couple of days to scour out all the rain clouds, but the amounts
will remain lighter for much of the weekend. Labor Day may still
some isolated activity south of I-20. Areawide, our temperatures
will be well below the average for late summer in the low to mid
90s for highs and lower 70s each morning. This air mass and
persistent NE winds will see our temps continue to trend cooler
lows as our skies clear, and even highs when sunshine returns will
range in the upper 80s for several days. Min RHs will be high
everywhere until early next week with afternoon sunshine.
