Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
220 PM CST Mon Nov 24 2025
.DISCUSSION...
Showers and thunderstorms will remain numerous this evening across much of
the region, ahead of a strong upper level disturbance and surface dry line that
will shift east across the Southern Plains late this afternoon through the
evening. Scattered strong to severe storms will be possible as well, mainly over
portions of Deep East Texas and the southern sections of Northcentral Louisiana,
before these storms diminish from west to east late. Locally heavy rainfall will
also be possible in the stronger storms, with rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches
expected, with isolated higher amounts possible mainly over portions of
extreme Eastern Texas, Northwest Louisiana, and possibly extreme Southern Arkansas.
Drier air will begin to spread east into the area late tonight, although
above normal temperatures will continue another day, with min RH`s of 50-65%.
A stronger cold front will move through the region late Tuesday night/Wednesday
morning, returning much cooler and more seasonal air for Wednesday and continuing
through the remainder of the holiday week. However, areas of showers and a few
embedded storms will increase this weekend areawide, providing much needed rain
to help alleviate the developing drought conditions and higher wildfire risks.
