.DISCUSSION...
High pressure at the surface and aloft will remain across the
region today. But, an easterly wave in the northern Gulf will
continue to push westward from the Florida Panhandle towards the
Louisiana Gulf Coast today. The high pressure will start to erode
on the southern and eastern areas of our fire districts, allowing
rain bands from the system to push into the region during the
afternoon and evening hours. The best chances today will be in
districts southeast of a line from Toledo Bend to Monroe, LA.
Ahead of those rain bands, expect another hot and humid day across
the districts, with afternoon highs in the mid to upper 90s.
Mixing heights should climb over 5000 ft, with Min RH values
between 40 to 50 percent.
Rain chances will become more widespread on Friday and Saturday,
as the easterly wave gets closer to the region. The best chances
for rain will be across districts south of the Interstate 30
corridor, with locally heavy rain possible across our Louisiana
and Deep East Texas districts. Hot, humid, and dry conditions are
expected to return by the first of next week, as upper ridging
expands back over the districts.
