Upper level high pressure will remain anchored over the region
today keeping hot and dry conditions in place. Highs will once
again climb into the upper 90s to around 103 degrees. Winds will
persist out of the south-southeast at 10-15 mph in the afternoon.
Overnight lows will remain on the mild side in the mid 70s.

The hot and dry doldrums of summer will continue for the next
several days as a 596dam upper-level ridge will remain the dominant
feature across the southern US. As the upper-level flow becomes more
zonal across the northern tier of the US, the ridge will retrograde
westward by Tuesday and become centered over west Texas through
Wednesday. The warmest days look to be Tuesday and Wednesday when
850mb temperatures will increase to 25-27 deg C and the ridge is
directly overhead.  There is a medium to high (40-80%) chance for
high temperatures to exceed 105 degrees across the Big Country and
Concho Valley, so heat advisories could be needed.  High
temperatures will be around 100 elsewhere.

For Thursday and Friday, the ridge will shift further westward and
become centered over the Four Corners region.  While temperatures
may be a few degrees lower, this likely will not bring much overall
relief from the heat for most areas.  In addition, a weak trough
axis will move into the Southern Plains in place of the ridge.  This
will push a cold front southward into North Texas on Friday, which
could introduce some low (<20%) rain chances into Saturday for the
Big Country.
