Localized flooding is possible, primarily across the northwest Hill Country through tonight. - Below normal temperatures expected through the weekend, with a slow warming trend next week. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 1222 AM CDT Fri Oct 2 2026 Cooler temperatures and breezy northerly winds will settle across the area in the wake of the cold front today, with showers and thunderstorms redeveloping across much of the area today and tonight. While widespread flooding is not anticipated, additional rainfall over areas that received heavy rainfall yesterday could lead to some localized flooding. The most favored area for additional flooding concerns will be across the northwest Hill Country, where rain totals between 4 and 7+ inches occurred yesterday. There a Marginal to Slight Risk of excessive rainfall across this area Today, with the Slight Risk area over portions of the Heartland, Northern Edwards Plateau, Northwest Hill Country through tonight. High temperatures today will be in the mid 70s to low 80s, with overnight lows tonight dropping into the mid 50s to mid 60s. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday through Thursday) Issued at 1222 AM CDT Fri Oct 2 2026 Expect scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday across much of the area as upper level disturbances continue to move northeast across Texas. The highest rainfall totals will be across the Northwest Hill Country and Heartland with localized 1 to 2 inches possible. The flood threat looks low at this time. Looks like going to a dry forecast next week as weak surface high pressure builds across the area. Expect cool temperatures this weekend with highs in the 70s, warming back into the 80s next week. The coolest night will be Monday night with lows in the mid to upper 50s. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 615 AM CDT Fri Oct 2 2026 MVFR to IFR ceilings will persist through much of this morning across all terminals, with a brief window of VFR ceilings this afternoon possible. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across KJCT, KBBD, and KABI this morning, with KSJT and KSOA less likely to see shower development until tonight. Breezy northerly winds are expected behind the cold front this morning, with most terminals seeing gusts as high as 22 knots.
