.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Friday)
Issued at 204 PM CDT Thu Jul 30 2026

High pressure will continue to remain in place for the remainder
of today and tomorrow. Highs in the 95 to 101 degree range will
remain in place this afternoon. Heat indices near 103 degrees are
still forecast. A Heat Advisory will continue through 8 PM CDT
today as a result. Otherwise, similar conditions are expected for
Friday. However, a bit drier air and high temperatures that are a
degree or two lower will be in place.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday night through next Thursday)
Issued at 204 PM CDT Thu Jul 30 2026

For this weekend, the high pressure ridge will start to shift off
to the west towards the Four Corners region. This will allow for
a bit of relief from the heat. In addition, a weak cold frontal
boundary will move south across the region on Saturday. The
combination of these two events should be enough support a low
chance (20 to 30%) for rain showers or thunderstorms across the
area on Saturday afternoon. Highs will be more into the middle to
upper 90s for the weekend. By early next week, the high pressure
center shifts back to the northeast bringing more heat (triple
digits) back to our area.
